Parrot AR Drone

Submitted by admin on January 15, 2010 – 00:42No Comment

French company Parrot, has created the AR Drone. This quadricopter is equipped with WiFi,allowing for it to be remote controled from an iPhone or iPod touch. Utilizing augmented reality, Parrot’s AR Drone quadricopter is a toy that actually transforms video games from a fantasy setting into the real world. The AR drone is controlled through an intuitive touchscreen application that gives the user control over all aspects of the flight. The camera located on the front end allows the user to see not only where you are flying, but it also allows the vehicle to be used in augmented reality scenarios. Watch the video demos after the jump!

Parrot claim to have used military technologies (such as wind compensation) in the AR Drone, making it perhaps one of the most complex R/C models we’ve seen to date. No word on pricing, but the Parrot AR Drone will be available to consumers sometime in 2010.
